It's Not the Devil, the Enemy is You

What if I told you that you were not under attack from the Devil? That God wasn’t even testing you?

So often, church is guilty of pushing this narrative that every bad thing going on in our lives is either “preparation for a blessing” or “an attack of the enemy." That simply isn’t true.

Scripture tells us that we will reap what we sow. Laws of energy dictate that for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction. Sometimes karma is just catching up with you. More often than not, you are experiencing the consequences of your actions.

Let us turn to page 474, second line. When you get there say “amen”...

  1. Mother Shirley, your finances are not “under attack.” Your husband just didn’t pay his taxes and now that he’s dead, the IRS is looking for you.

  2. My sis, God is not testing your relationship. The universe is not conspiring to strengthen it. The devil does not have a hold on “your man”. He is just trash and you are settling. Move on.

  3. Hey Pastor. People are talking about you; however, it’s not slander and your name isn’t being dragged through the mud. What they are saying is true and it’s time for you to reflect and re-assess. Please stop rebuking members of your own congregation because you’re wrong.

Spirituality and religion are tools and guides that allow us to navigate life as better people. But they are tools. Which means we cannot blame them for every misfortune that we will encounter in life.

In most faiths, accountability is at the core of all teachings; whether or not you accept this in your life is up to you, but we must all answer for our actions if not in life, then certainly in death.
